So, a bit of a backstory for you. Rewind to first term. I was asked to put together a short (apologies again Mr Josey for blowing my time limit out of the water) presentation for the first strategic committee meeting of the year. The purpose of this presentation was to put forward major projects or initiatives to the committee to allocate school priorities and funding.
I naturally was pretty pumped that my project got top billing. This has been a huge step forward for our makerspace journey and my 'utopia', my ultimate learning spaces are coming to fruition! I can foresee the best STEAM education hub on the Gold Coast will be right here at Benowa. The future is bright.
Since I don't have photos of my fancy new furniture to share yet, I am going to share the link to my presentation for the strategic committee meeting. remembering of course that I spoke to the presentation, but this can at least provide the outline of my brief and you will be able to easily follow my train of thought.
And now I will share a few photos of some year 5 and 6 students working hard with the littleBits, prototyping a solution that aims to improve classroom life as part of our RAP program. We had automatic fish tank feeders, cars with scoops that were supposed to collect rubbish and systems designed to set of an alarm if the class got too rowdy. We have encountered design flows and are trouble-shooting our way through them. I was sure I took more photos during our last session which shows a huge improvement from the pics I will share now, but I guess I got too caught up working with my groups. We have a lots of fun!
